Leadtek Winfast USB Dongle Gold and the Denver DVBT-2U

   * Kernel module: dvb-usb-af9015 (Card type autodetected) 

This page describes how to get the Leadtek Winfast DTV Dongle Gold & Denver DVBT-2U working.

Introduction

This is a USB based DTV-DVB tuner. The only problem is that the driver is not fully integrated with the existing linux kernel yet so the below easy steps are needed.

How to install

1. Download the latest firmware:

wget http://www.otit.fi/~crope/v4l-dvb/af9015/af9015_firmware_cutter/firmware_files/4.95.0/dvb-usb-af9015.fw

2. Copy the Firmware to the correct location:

sudo cp dvb-usb-af9015.fw /lib/firmware

NOTE: Some users have had problems with the 4.95.0 firmware and getting MythTV to scan for channels, and other reception related issues. If you are having problems, try using the 4.65.0 firmware instead. (This can be downloaded from the link below).

Firmware can alternatively be downloaded from: http://www.otit.fi/~crope/v4l-dvb/af9015/af9015_firmware_cutter/firmware_files/

Then plug the dongle in and type dmesg in the terminal, when you see the DTV Dongle detected - you are ready to install and configure mythtv. Take note in the dmesg output to ensure the latest firmware 4.95 is loading.
