What's nice about these remotes is their ability to be dynamic - It
looks like that VidaBox remote does a good job of listing the
available media and making it easy to launch - Boxee Remote for
iDevice does a good job of this, as do the couple MythTV iDevice
remotes I've used (I haven't tried Mythdroid).

If a touchscreen remote just duplicates the buttons on a 'hard' remote
and nothing else, it's not worth the money. But if it can organize all
the files on a media center in an easy to reach format, it's a winner
IMHO. I feel like a ton of this can be accomplished in HTML a la
Mythweb, which looks nice on an iPad but really falls short when one
has to scroll through 800 channels in the listings page.
Unless the device is plugged in charging, the screen needs to turn itself off to save power so any control such as just a simple pause suddenly becomes a two step (at least) process.

I don't see any touchscreen device replacing a more traditional remote in my living room any time soon, but one might work beside it. Now, a buttoned remote with a screen (touch or not) would be perfect.
