With respect to exiting between making changes to the tuner line-up, in the last 2-3 years that I have been using this strategy (since I first found out about it from you) on my boxes and others that I have set up I have ALWAYS found that to get the virtual tuners in the correct order I have had to exit, allow for a mythfilldatabase update and then go back in to make the additional changes. There may be some unnecessary steps included that I am not aware of but at least I know that this way will always work for me and it is an easy procedure to explain over the phone if my brother needs to reconfigure his system ;-) I don't know why you would ever want it to be fixed such that users never see the input IDs. I can't see any advantages to this and only more difficulty in managing conflicts.
