My problem goes deeper than that though. After a fresh install of the machine, the front end works fine. But after a few minutes stops working. It never starts working correctly again. Even after rebooting the machine, the frontend will never again display a picture. I just get the green static and freezing every time I click "watch live tv"

I see errors in both the back end logs and the front end logs, but I don't know what they mean or how to use them to troubleshoot.

The backend log gives the following errors:
2009-12-09 21:23:59.373 NVR(/dev/video0) Error: Resetting and re-queueing
> Ok, I just checked and the entire machine is not locking up. Its just the

I have a lot of front end lock ups too. I've been able to use
ctrl-alt-rightarrow
to switch desktops. I leave a terminal open in that desktop with
"killall mythfrontend.real" in the history. It's a pain, but at least
it's only the
frontend and not the backend. I haven't gotten a remote control yet, but when I
do, I'm going to dedicate a key to killing and restarting the frontend if that's
possible.
