I have been playing with MythMusic, trying to set up playlists. Maybe I'm<br>
in the minority here, but I organize my music by directory as follows:<br>

All the stuff in "60-70" and "80-90-00" is rock of most all genres from<br>
those decades.<br>

I like to set up playlists which just include each directory individually,<br>
and some which might be combinations of several directories, e.g.:<br>
<br>
RockMix1 = 60-70 + 80-90-00<br>
RockMix2 = RockMix1+ Top500RockSongs<br>
Mix3 = RockMix2 + Buffett + Reggae<br>

etc.<br>

Many of my mp3 files were ripped from my own CDs and the ID3 tags often<br>
don't have the right years (for example, if they were ripped from a<br>
"Greatest Hits" disc, or Grip might have assigned the wrong genre, etc.).<br>
Even some of the files I buy from Amazon often get these wrong, so that's<br>
why I group 'em by directory.<br>

The playlist editor/selector has improved quite a bit from 0.21 but still<br>
lacks the ability to select files by directory. I'd like to request this<br>
as a feature in 0.23... ;-)<br>

Does anyone else out there do it this way, or am I just an oddity? ;-)<br>

</blockquote><div><br>What I've done to make this sort of setup work is to set the genres to match the directories (I don't find the genres otherwise useful). Then you can select songs by genre and it all works fine. If you're importing stuff fairly frequently this might not be practical for you, but if you're collection is reasonable stable it should work.<br>
