Hi John,<br><br>I have MythTV working here with the vdpau api using both nVidia 9400GT cards and also on an ATOM330/Ion motherboard. I have successfully got BBC HD working really nicely...in fact the picture quality on the ATOM is mind blowingly excellent :-)<br>
<br>I have not managed to test ITV HD yet as that channel relies on the 'Red button' to hot swap to HD on another PID when there is programming available. So far the ITV Red button services seems to not work correctly on the MythTV MHEG engine. Also noticed that the BBC HD channel has working MHEG but the multi-screen pages do not display (they work fine on the DVB-T SD channels)<br>
<br>So overall I would say Freesat is worth it to see how eye wateringly good HD can be with MythTV if you have the right video driver! Another reason is also if your DVT-T reception is a little flaky... as it is in the evenings for me!<br>

how do you find it; I looked at the freesat channel listing and there only seemed to be two HD channels and most other channels are on freeview... in your opinion is it worth the upgrade to et freesat?<br>

DVB-T for Freeview, DVB-S for Freesat (with HD), and DVB-S for the Canal Digitaal basic package, with an official subscription. Works perfectly. Freeview and Freesat can now be set up to be interchangeable, as they share EPG info, as long as you get the channel numbers and names matched.<br>

I have by prefrence set mine dso that it records from DVB-T by preference, and Livetv prefers DVB-S. Thats just because DVB-S is considerably higher bandwidth, so I get better picture on LiveTv and lower disk usage on Recordings.<br>

Unfortunately Canal digitaal uses a proprietary EPG for everything except Now and Next. So I use xmltv, there is a well maintained script at <a href="http://code.google.com/p/tvgrabnlpy/" target="_blank">http://code.google.com/p/tvgrabnlpy/</a> needs to be updated occasionally. You will know when, as you lose EPG for Dutch channels.<br>
