This is the cable channel number lineup. From it, I know the XMLID for
the Call Sign. To get the lineup, go to another site, like TV Guide. <br>

There I see KTVU (analog) is channel 2, agreeing with the Schedules
Direct lineup. Likewise, 702 is KTVUD (digital). 188 and 688 are LATV
(why there are two, I'm not sure, unless one is a SD and the other an
HD version of the same channel).<br>

Comcast likely simply receives the KTVU digital signal and sends it
right back out over cable (8vsb to QAM256 converted, of course), which
means that the station ID sent byt KTVU is also passed on. So even
though the cable signal is coming in on probably channel 79.1 or 79.4,
the channel your TV will call it (and the DVB utilities) 2.1 which is
the primary digital channel named 2, because their branding began when
it was analog channel 2.<br>

See above why you would see 2.1 when there really isn't a channel 2
program 1. The 2.1 is simply a name that the broadcaster sends out,
and most TV's will recognize that name and map it, so that when you
press 2.1 on your remote, you get that channel, even though it is
physically some other channel like 79#1 or something. So here's one
way to get the mapping done.<br>
<br>
2.1 should be KTVUDT. You know that because it is broadcast number for
the digital station. It doesn't matter what the "real" channel is. If
you want to keep the cable numbers, rather than the broadcast numbers,
(which I recommend you do) then you can go to LiveTV, tune to 2.1 on
your frontend, press E and change the channel number to 702 to match
the Schedules Direct number, and fill in the XMLid and call letters and
name (I tend to put the network followed by SD or HD, where known).<br>
<br>
Knowing how Comcast numbers things, I could guess that 188 is LATV in
SD, or KTVUDT2 in SD. Again, in LiveTV, tune until you find LATV.
This can be time consuming. Based on the output of dlou99's program,
though, I can make a pretty good guess that you'll find it on 79.1.
But this is where the tedium sets in. <br>
<br>
Keeping on, I'd guess LATV in HD is 622. That's really all you need
for that channel.<br>
<br>
Rather that try to go that way, however, I found it much easier to work
from the video back out. I would go into LiveTV, tune to the first
unmapped channel (for me it was 18#1) and watch long enough to see
either a network logo or what the program was, then look at TV Guide to
see what number that network/program was on, then look at Schedules
Direct to see what the XMLid for that channel was, then press E and
fill in all of the blanks, then channel up and do it all over again.
It took quite a while, but worked.<br>

wasted so much time already trying to get this working that WAF is
slipping dangerously low. If I don't get it setup before comcast stops
analog broadcast (next week!) we are going to start losing most of our
shows and WAF will plummet to dangerous levels. ;)<br>
