I ran a 1080p Quicktime mov file on my box from harddrive (Asus M3N78-VM M/B with video over HDMI) and the playback is smooth. However when I run 720p mkv files there is some jerkiness. Both are playing over "mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo xv %s". How should I be running the mkv files? And can I set global player settings to that and not impact mov files negatively?
