Jim,

Thanks for the tip. I haven't decided on a file system for my raid array yet, but XFS has been treating me well on my current 1tb LVM, so unless I hear otherwise, I'll likely stay with that. I was going to build a separate system using FreeNAS, and use ZFS & RAID-Z, but that's not where I'm heading now. I know you can make ZFS work with Linux, but it's not worth the trouble as far as I'm concerned. My RAID arary will be mainly read, so any write penalties associated shouldn't bother me.

Also, the motherboard I listed above has integrated ATI graphics, which I didn't realize until after I made the post, and now I'm considering the following:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138108R

Down the line I could see the potential to run two, independant frontends from this machine, so that's why I'm going with a board with dual PCI-E x16 2.0 slots; not for the SLI capabilities. That's also what helped me justify the quad core processor.

Thanks,

Josh
