If the refresh rate of the display is not the same, or a multiple of the
material being played, this can cause jerky panning.

Earlier I had a 50" DLP TV that only accepted 60 Hz refresh rate on DVI. It
displayed PAL material very well except for jerky panning.

I now have a 46" LCD which accepts 50-60Hz, and I think also 24Hz/24p on
HDMI and the difference in panning is very noticeable.

I used a "Lord of the Rings" PAL DVD to test in both cases.

So, I have a sony TV, one of the 120Hz 1080p ones. I have that cinemotion feature off for the mythtv input - was on, just turned it off tonight. The EDID reports 60hz refresh rate, 58-62 I believe.

Either way, the inputs are either 24fps for DVDs(and ASTC HD too?) and 30 for normal analog cable recordings.

Which makes sense that we only notice the jerkiness on the HD and DVD shows.

120hz would be perfect, 120/24 = 5 120/30 = 4

Has anyone gotten a 120hz signal to a Sony? Is it possible? Sending over DVI -> HDMI cable.

Thanks!
