A Philips 47" lcd. About the only thing the tv has to do is turn on, and I wouldn't think it would have to do anything else while watching things on the mythbox.

I suppose the one thing I could try is to cover up the ir receiver and see if I still get the signals, that way I would know if it's some external ir source, or some weird bug on the actual chip or wiring.

What kind of TV do you have?

I know ever since I got my new Sharp LCD television, the IR receiver I own
(microsoft) goes nuts everytime the TV starts up. On closer inspection, I
see that there are two IR "windows" on the front of the TV. I can only
assume one is receiving and the other one is blasting for some reason. I
have never looked at what it's sending, but it doesn't affect my TV watching
experience, so I haven't investigated further.
