Hi there,

It seems that "mythshutdown --check" does not check if there are any
upcoming recordings. It does, however, check if the daily wakeup
period is within the next 15 minutes, in which case it won't shut
down.
To me it seems that there should also be a check for any upcoming
recordings within the next 15 minutes... Or am I missing something ?

What do you have the 'Max wait for recording' setting set to? This should be a larger value than the 'Start before rec' value. I've got mine set to wake up about 12 minutes before a recording (incase ubuntu does it's random chkdsk), but 'Max wait for recording' is set to 15 minutes.

This setting is in the 'Shutdown/wakeup' settings screen on myth-setup.

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/User_Manual:Detailed_configuration_Backend#Shutdown.2FWakeup_Options
