I need to keep the WAF in mind. Starting with ANY kind of a keyboard is a no go. Having the 800x600 to display the 1280x720 as virtual would result in panning around which is not really feasible with a remote.
And there is a huge difference in using the myth webinterface by a keyboard and mouse or using the mythfrontend by a remote scrolling through your MP3 collection. It's more intuitive.
But thanks for your suggestions. Regarding the fokus issue of the remote you talked about: I solved that by using the MythTv internal lirc implementation rather than using the normal LIRC. You can even bind your keyboard exclusively to MythTV but you'd loose ability to use it for your browser (at least your typing in the browser would also happen in MythTv).

It has been a while since I played with twinview. I found it
disagreeable from several standpoints. At the time, i was using a
rather limited machine and it took up so much CPU power that I found
better ways. Some potential solutions come to mine. 1 is to set up
your 800x600 as a virtual 1280x720 in twinview. This may or may not
work for you, I think you would have to try it. Next idea is to
appraoch the problem differently. It is much easier, imo, to schedule
recordings using mythweb. You can also play CDs from mythweb. So,
something to consider is to set up the screens as non twinview and put
mythweb in the smaller one. Finally, there is no reason you cannot do
what you want with different isntances of mythfront running on the two
screens. That way you could even schedule a recording on the small
screen while you were watching something on the projector. The
problem my system would have with this is that the remote would work
both screens and this would produce havoc on one of them. If you had
an IR Keyboard based remote, this would not be a problem but you need
to either use a mouse to switch active screens or put in some code to
do it. I think this last setup with the IR Keyboard remote would be
very nice.

Again, hope this is useful,
