It works in Linux, and I don't have any problems with my receiver making "pops" when the audio format changes. (My Hercules Game Theater did the popping everytime and I couldn't fix it, maybe I just didn't work with it enough...)<br><br>I use these for optical AC3 and DTS passthrough.<br><br>They will run you about $30.<br><br>I think the Hercules Game Theater will do 5.1, 6.1, or 7.1 analog out if that is what you are looking for.
