<pre wrap=""> I run a SBE/FE off a cf card adapter without issues. I just have a ram
drive setup on boot for the logs and all so I don't have to worry about the
card's life as much. I would assume a HD for a master backend would be
better especially if you want the database to be on this drive.

Oh I didn't even think about writing logs.... I guess I could load up
a bunch of memory in the machine, because I dont want a ram drive to
take way ram from mythbackend</pre>

<font size="-1"><font face="Arial">It's not too bad on a slave
backend. I only have a 55MB ram drive setup mounted as /var/log and it
is 12MB full now. I link in a few other random files also. I just
have to check it ever once in a while. Scripts to copy it to the ram
drive on start up and back on shutdown. I don't care if a power loss
makes me lose the logs or anything so I don't back up in between. I
would guess a mbe would have a lot more logging though. Not sure how
much space would be needed. Ha, just checked and my MBE only has 5.4MB
in /var/log. Well, just trying to say it doesn't take all that much
ram space really.<br>

You could also nfs the logs to a remote machine.<br>
