thing for you to keep in mind is that if the support for the 350 is going away,
then so will the demand. If you ever plan on upgrading your computer and going
to HD, it might be nice to be able to ebay your tuner. A 150 or 250 is much
easier to offload on ebay.

recently installed myth on a pentium III 700mhz with 256mb ram, and the system
played back 6000kbps mpeg 2 video and used only around 15% of the cpu. I thought

Video Card Usage

Thanks all.

The problem with
picking up a better video card, that I see, is that it will still leave quite
a bit of work to the CPU. I want to minimize CPU use as much as possible
and my understanding is that the PVR350 would completely take that decoding
load off of the CPU. Correct me if I'm wrong. The difference in
price between buying a better video card and the PVR 150 as opposed to buying
the PVR350 is minimal, so whichever would be best with an Athlon 600 and 768MB
of RAM is the direction I want to go.

It was mentioned that the PVR350
support was going away soon... is that for sure, and if so, would that render
the 350's decoder completely useless in the future, or would it just not see
any additional development? I'm trying to make a good decision here, but
I don't want to spend more than the price of a 350 and I also do not want to
buy a new CPU and mobo right now.

Let me know what you guys
think.

Thanks,

Tim

Note that support for video output via the PVR-350 is slated to go
