I have successfully opened an MCE remote. Several times, actually. That logo is very easy to remove, and replacing it with a penguin logo would be very easy as well. I managed to do it with a butterknife without too much mutilation to the sides. If you inspect the sides carefully, you can see the telltale signs of forced entry, but it's not noticeable during regular use.
<br><br>As for why I have to open my remote regularly, I found that my first one shorted out when some solder or resin dislodged from a connection and found two other wires to short out. Easily repaired, but doesn&#39;t speak to the quality of the remote. That one has since bitten the dust completely, but given the price of the remote in Chinatown here in Toronto, we just replaced it with the same model, which hasn&#39;t died on us yet.

<br>specifically, One For All JP1 remotes (<a href="http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/">http://www.hifi-remote.com/ofa/</a>). I<br>ended up slightly marring the edges when I opened mine, but not (IMHO) too<br>badly. I seem to recall seeing a discussion somewhere on a JP1 site about how
