made a file called /etc/modprobe.d/dvb whose contents are:
I just ste it back to that setup. However, I can scan the QAM-256
channels when I tell it to scan on the DVB input, but when I try to do a
scan on the v4l subdevice, it just sits there and does nothing.

I am able to scan both channels. I am using the v4l TV tuner that
appears as a subdevice of the DVB device, specifically the "Television"
input. Also, under the analog setup dialog for the card, under the
Input Cards section of mythtv-setup, I specified the audio device as
/dev/dsp1 which corresponds to cx88_alsa.
