For whatever reasons, I was thinking about this last night. <br><br>I have a 32" 4:3 TV that does hdtv. For OTA hi-def, it makes it letterbox and then shrinks the left/right sides so it's back to 4:3 and doesn't fill the screen.
<br><br>I would like to use MythTV to play hdtv avi's and mpeg's. I have bought anything yet, but I'm wondering....if I configure x11 for 1080i hdtv, won't everything be in that shrunk down letterbox format? For viewing tv over the air, I just have a hauppauge pvr-150 and no hdtv.
<br><br>What I would love to do is be able to display everything on the screen fully (4:3), but then if I play a hdtv avi or mpeg file, it displays it properly in 1080i. Is this possible?<br><br><br>Thanks!
