I have not tried the Smart Blaster - But I will buy one even if it
cost a couple dollars to get my Digital Box working.
My time is worth something and there is ZERO good information about
using and IR Blaster.. ( they are a waist of money as far as I am
concerned )
I have been trying to get one working for over 6 months, now I have
just been waiting for another solution to come along.
Every time it comes up here it is just avoided and there is no
"good" documentation I have found that is actually relevant to
simply changing a channel on a STB from mythtv..

Does it have to do with your particular setup? It took me only an
hour to setup the IR Blaster and I had no idea what I was doing, just
followed the directions at http://www.eggshellskull.com/
Cheers,

Thanks - I looked at most of these setups and this one was by far the
most well done..
But I am using Suse 10 that has LIRC available. From what I understand
DON"t try and use it...
Also the STB box I had before I took it back was a Scientific Explorer
2100 ( if I remember right ) There does not seem to be any remote codes
for it..
I also tried the 8300 but it goes to sleep all the time ( Hibernates )
my cable company only gives out crappy old boxes, so yes I am sure this
complicating things..

Short and long I could get LIRC compiled and working but never emitting
anything useful as far as channel changing.

I gave up it was just not worth all this hassle for a couple digital
channels, There has to be an easier way to change channels for us that
have crippled cable boxes..
