ok, I think there is some misunderstanding. My capture card is saa7134 based and captures only stereo. So my recordings have stereo audio and my receiver plays it in the front loudspeaker only.<br><br>BTW: how do you check what kind of media file you have? On windows I used avicodec or gspot.

<br><br>Also, aplay is likely to fail with iec958 (because you /must/ have a<br>specific type of input for it to work), so test with mythfrontend using<br>AC-3 passthrough and a recording that you know has an AC-3 stream.
