Hi everyone,<br>
<br>
I am new here by the way so hello!!<br>
<br>
I have been building Myth systems for a while - just seeing if I want
to go ahead and commit to new hardware - Now I am using front / back
end with DVB in anger. <br>
<br>
I'd like to say a big thanks to all involved in the project, it is
wonderful!! :)<br>
<br>
Anyway I am in the UK and am pointing at Crystal Palace 50 miles away
(!) and have to use a high power antenna amplifier just to get a signal
on my Sony IDTV. As a result I have problems with some channels
completely failing at times and quite often glitches on the strongest
ones. I think I have a good test bed ;)<br>
<br>
I have been experiencing occasional backend / front end crashes similar
to those I have seen posted in the last few days here and elsewhere (I
use Nove-T and get various issues but mainly front end freezing, back
end dropping packets, giving up, coring etc). I just tried the patch
mentioned on myth-dev earlier... <br>
<br>

href="http://www.mythtv.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=31">http://www.mythtv.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=31</a><br>
<br>
This appears to have fixed all the problems -so far- unless of course I
just happen to have an unusually strong signal strengh today!<br>
<br>
Have you tried that?<br>
<br>
cheers<br>
<br>

<pre wrap="">After I change channels using mythtv, I often get TS continuity errors from
my Nova-T. This only happens under mythtv, and only when I use mythtv to
change the channels. If I tune the card usiong tzap and then start
mythbackend / frontend and watch liveTV then all is well. Similarly, if I
exit liveTV and then re-enter it, I generally get a good stream.
Strangely (or at least, strangely to me...) femon confirms a high BER (>
0x1000, 0x0 unc.) after mythtv tunes the card but tuning using tzap gives
much lower rate (< 0x50).
I've seen other reports of similar instability on the list but haven't yet
found anyone that's been able to come up with a solution.

I'd say comparing the DVB channel changing code of 'tzap' with the one MythTV
use would be the best solution. Might be nasty if you don't know much C++,
but you could learn a lot.
