I noticed this problem last night but it only seems to affect some DVDs,
whilst others play fine and I haven't been able to detect any obvious
pattern.

I get loads (i.e. ~2500 in 30 seconds) of these messages whilst it hangs:

2010-04-17 23:52:10.128 AFD Error: Unknown decoding error
2010-04-17 23:52:10.205 [mpeg2video @ 0x7fb470c83300]get_buffer() failed
(stride changed)

So far I've traced it to changset [24115] (for #8326).  If I back out
this change I can successfully play the DVDs in the latest 0.23-fixes
(r24177).

I was just going to test it on another frontend first to confirm it
wasn't something unique to my machine but as I don't seem to be the only
one noticing this I'll update the bug with my logs.
