[mythtv-users] Myth, the HD-PVR, and the new beta firmware

For those courageous enough to be using Myth TRUNK and the HD-PVR, I
am attaching a couple of patches which may be of interest to you.

The first patch does two things. First, it will cause myth to
automatically record DD5.1 if it is available (this part is provided
by Janne Granau) . Second, it changes to timing of commands to the
hdpvr driver. I personally have found that a small delay is necessary
for the HD-PVR to reliably accept some commands using the new beta
firmware.

The second patch causes Myth to issue a stop/start encoding sequence
to the hdpvr driver, if no data is received for an extended period of
time. This is effective for recovering from such things as input
resolution changes, when starting up a new recording. Note, that this
does NOT fix resolution changes for live tv.

NOTE: It is still NOT recommended for anyone to be using Myth TRUNK
or the HD-PVR in Myth, unless you are able and willing to help track
down bugs. If you do not already have the know-how to build Myth from
scratch, this is not the time to start.

Enjoy,

John

Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
